Please read the following out loud: الصلوۃ والسلام علیک یا رسول اللہ الصلوۃ والسلام علیک یا حبیب اللہ الصلوۃ والسلام علیک یا نور اللہ الصلوۃ والسلام علیک یا رحمۃ للعالمین Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala make me write only the truth and the right, and May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala make us all read, understand, implement, and spread the right and the truth. (Ameen) To be a friend of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is indeed a great honor, and included among those who have been bestowed with this honor is Sultanul Arifeen Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has given His friends enormous power and strengths. For example, Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih did not receive an education in the view of the world, but he wrote more than 140 books in Persian. His poetry has not only enlightened the believers, but also the non-believers find great peace and tranquility in his words of wisdom. His poetry shows intellect which can only be achieved through the blessings of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. There’s a hadith in Sahih Bukhari narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Anhu in which the Prophet ﷺ said, “Indeed Allah Almighty said, who opposes my wali (friend) indeed I have declared war on him, and nothing makes my servant more closer to me than doing what I have made compulsory on him, and continuously makes my servant closer to me is nafl (the extra) until I love him, so when I love him I (become) his hearing with which he hears, and his eyesight with which he sees, and his hand with which he holds, and his feet with which he walks, and if he were to ask me I will surely give it to him, and if he were to seek refuge in me I will surely grant it to him.” In another hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said, “Fear the sight of a believer, for he sees with the light of Allah.” Indeed when a person gives up the materialistic objects of the world, truly submits himself to Allah, Allah raises the levels of his piety, and thus he sees, hears, steps, holds, points and glances with the Noor of Allah. Many Auliya Allah have the ability to change a person’s destiny with a single glance, like Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih, when he would glance at a non-believer he would become a believer. Often Wilayat is received through the special attention, glance, and/ or prayer of another great Wali. Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih was passing through an area with a group of people. They requested to stop for food, as they saw a woman nearby cooking some bread. The woman had a baby girl with her in a cradle. While the woman was cooking the baby girl started crying, Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih went to the cradle to rock it. As he rocked the cradle he recited his poetry by which the baby became quiet. Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih then said, “I have moved this cradle in such a way that it will keep progressing until the day of Judgment.” The baby girl, Hazrat Fatima Rahmatullahi Alaih, became a great waliya of her time. This article is only a fraction of a drop in the sea of wisdom, power and strengths of Sultanul Arifeen Sultan ul Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi Alaih. If one were to describe the true essence of Hazrat Sultan Bahu Rahmatullahi alaih they would run out of pages. May we also receive the blessed glance of a wali, and May Allah Sunhanahu wa Ta’ala grant us with His friendship. (Ameen)

(Ameen) Every year Ramadan arrives as a blessing, a gift from Allah subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Fasting during the long days and praying through the short nights bond us together as Muslims and strengthen our faith. The alert mode is on in our minds to steer us away from bad deeds. Every moment in Ramadan is used to seek the happiness of Allah. As Ramadan starts to give signs that it’s leaving, we are left in the same situation as we were before. How do we move forward in a positive way and still hold on to those blessings that we gained during Ramadan. Indeed Ramadan is a month like no other, but Allah gives blessings 24/7 365 days. Ramadan is a reminder for Muslims to taste the sweetness in worshipping Allah. If spending one month in piety makes Muslims feel peace and mercy in the air, imagine if we acted like that year around. قال ما منعکIn the Quran Surah Airaf, part of verse 12, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala asks Shaitan what prevented him from following His orders, “what prevented you?” This same question can be posed on us today. What has stopped us from worshipping Allah like we do in Ramadan. The excuses that we present year around suddenly vanish during Ramadan. We are energetically engaged in every event that can take us closer to Allah. Family, children, work, and other responsibilities come second, the top priority in Ramadan is to gain the mercy of Allah. Why isn’t that our top priority year around? What has stopped us from making that our top priority. Ramadan practically shows us that we are capable of following orders from Allah, we are capable of straightening out our life, but we are ignorant towards those facts.
Allah answers prayers whenever a person asks, but our ignorance stops us from asking him. For Talib e Ilm’s (Students of Deen) the new year begins after Ramadan. Students use the strength from Ramadan to move forward until the next Ramadan. Ramadan is a month to recharge but we have made it our battery, that when it comes we’re on and when it’s gone our batteries are gone and we’re switched off. Muslims claim to love Ramadan, but they don’t miss it as a lover should. Separation of beloved things causes an intense pain in the lover, but when Ramadan leaves we forget about it until next years moon sighting debate comes up. We as Muslims need to be reminded that the last day of Ramadan is not our last day, forgiveness, blessings and mercy don’t end with the month of Ramadan, it lasts for the next eleven months. The real test begins after Ramadan, exactly like how the real test is not praying Salah, but when we say Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah to Kiraman Katibeen, reminding ourselves that there are two angles writing our deeds from this moment to the next Salah, that’s when the real test begins. If we spend these next eleven months waiting for Ramadan, every day, every minute, every second, every millisecond is Ibadat. Don’t just make Ramadan a part of your calendar, when it comes you count the days and when it’s gone you rip that page and throw it away, make this Ramadan that you spent meaningful. Don’t waste the deeds that you earned in Ramadan in one day at the Eid party. Increase on the foundation that you have built in Ramadan. Shawwal’s first day is eid, not Ramadan’s last day, from Shawwal 1st to next Ramadan prove that you truly are worthy of spending another Ramadan. May we spend the last few nights of Ramadan meaningfully and attain the essence of this month’s true value. (Ameen) The eternal Miracle has been bestowed in the hands of mortal human beings, that they can see, read and understand the divine speech of Allah to His people. Understanding this Quran is not simple, you can’t just take a translation and start reading and expect to know what is being mentioned. You need the 2 Noors, one is the Noor of the Quran and the other is the Noor in your heart to understand the Quran with the love of the Prophet Sallal lahu alaihi wasallam. Quran is the way to attain immense blessings, mercy and most importantly the forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. There’s a hadith in Muslim Shareef where the Prophet Sallal lahu alaihi wasallam mentions the reward of a person that reads the Quran and implements the orders stated in it, on the day of Judgement Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will decorate their parents heads with crowns which will be brighter than the sun. The word Quran is made up of four words, Qar un, Qaraatun, Qarnun and Farqun. These four words are derived from the word Quran. Each one has a special meaning that implies what the Quran actually is. “Qar un” means to join together, because Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala joined different people from different cultures, different backgrounds, different customs, different countries, the people that eat different foods and wear different clothes, the people that have nothing similar, but Allah joined them all together under the word Muslim. Even though they are divergent in every way, but when they read the Kalimah they come under the umbrella of Islam and are called Muslim. The word Qaratun means the most read, because the Quran is the most read book in the entire world. We’re impressed with books that top the New York Times Best Seller’s List, but this book is uncomparable to any other. There is no book even similarly close to this Quran, and it is the most read in not only one country but the entire world. The word Qarnun means to accompany, because the person who read the Quran in the world will not only receive the benefits in the world, but the Quran will accompany that person in the world, the grave, on the day of Judgement and even after he enters paradise. The last word, Farqun, means to differentiate, because Allah has differentiated the Halal and Haram, the right and wrong, guidance and ignorance, honesty and dishonesty, light and darkness, good and bad, everything has been clearly stated in the Quran that these things can never be equal to each other. (Tafseer e Naeemi Vol. 1, Tafseer e Kabeer Vol 1.) If we ponder on each definition, the countless mercy is evident, but unfortunately we have made this Quran not part of our hearts but the part of our decorated cupboards and fancy ceremonies. Only in Ramadan do we blow on the cover to remove the dust and open it, or if someone’s getting married to put over the bride’s head, if only it was placed in her heart. Also when the occasional fights happen and to prove petty honesty this book is taken in the hands like a toy to swear by it. This is the modern respect of the Quran, is this the place of the Quran in our lives? This was only the explanation of the word Quran, imagine the Tafseer of every chapter, every Surah, every verse, every word and every letter of the Quran. People have spent their entire lives dedicated to understanding the Quran, they wrote numerous volumes that still have not been fully translated, but sadly we don’t even put in a speck of their time and effort to understand the Quran. Enlighten your hearts with the Noor of the Quran, not only in Ramadan, but also afterwards. Let Noor be your guide, In sha Allah starting from Sunday August 11, 2013, weekly Tafseer classes will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Noor Academy (6405 N. Bell Ave Chicago, IL 60645). Don’t only read the Quran, understand the Quran. May Allah give us the strength and power to acquire the knowledge of Islam and may Allah make the Quran Noor for us in the world, the grave, on the day of Judgement and in Jannat.
